About The
Superheroes in Kilts
A short history of the Superheroes In Kilts and a little bit about our mission.

Mission
Our goal is to find a way to support the research of better treatments and, hopefully one day, cures for children and young adult cancers. We currently do this through the Julia's Legacy of Hope hero fund for The St. Baldrick's Foundation.
History
It all started with Jonah.

LUCKY'S LITTLE HEROES
Lucky's Little Heroes Area started out as a passion project led by Joshua Stachura. As The Kilts moved from one shave event venue to another, the one thing that always seemed to be lacking was activities for the kids. Finally in 2019, Chris and Jennifer Schmelzer (the organizers of the annual shave event at 115 Bourbon Street in Merionette Park, Illinios) gave him the opportunity and the space to grow this idea. With the help of Kristine Howe and numerous volunteers, this idea was turned into a reality. It turned out to be a huge success and the kids and parents alike loved it. The general events of 2020 put a dent in the attendance of the March shave event, but there was still a decent turnout and Lucky's Little Heroes was growing. After a brief hiatus in 2021, and no in-person event at 115 Bourbon Street again, Josh moved Lucky's Little Heroes Area to the Julia's Legacy of Hope shave event at Gaelic Park in 2022. In 2023, Ryleigh Stachura and Dylan Stachura took on a much bigger role as junior organizers of Lucky's Little Heroes Area and in 2024 they have stepped into the Lead Organizer roles moving forward.
